Let us become still for a moment.
Breathe slowly, and allow your heart to travel quietly to the hill called Calvary. There, the cross stands beneath a heavy sky. The earth itself seems to tremble, and the distant echoes of the crowd rise and fall like thunder. And there—lifted between heaven and earth—hangs Jesus. Not a stranger. Not a distant figure from history. But the One who loves you. The One who knows your name. Look at Him. His hands are stretched wide—not in anger, but in welcome. His arms are open—not in defeat, but in love. Every breath He takes is slow and filled with pain. Each movement costs Him strength. His body trembles beneath the weight He carries—not only the weight of the cross, but the weight of our brokenness, our failures, our fears, and our hidden wounds. And still, He does not turn away. He stays. He stays there for you. He stays there for me. He could have stepped down. He could have called upon angels. He could have ended the suffering in a moment. But He chose love instead. Imagine His eyes searching the crowd—perhaps looking for someone who would understand, someone who would believe. Perhaps He was looking for you. Because even then, He knew your story. He knew your struggles, your regrets, the moments you wish you could undo. He knew the tears no one else has seen. And still, He remained on the cross—not because He was forced, but because He chose to save you. Every breath He took was a prayer of love. Every moment He endured was mercy being poured out. Every second was forgiveness being written across the world. This is not punishment. This is sacrifice. This is not defeat. This is redemption. Listen carefully to the silence that surrounds the cross. In that silence, something holy is happening. Your sins are being carried. Your shame is being lifted. Your guilt is being washed away. Your heart is being invited home. He suffers so that you may be free. He suffers so that you may be forgiven. He suffers so that no darkness, no failure, no fear will ever separate you from the love of God again. Even in His pain, He speaks words of grace: “Father, forgive them…” He is thinking not of Himself—but of us. Of you. Let that truth settle gently into your heart: He did this for you. Not because you were perfect. Not because you earned it. Not because you deserved it. But because He loves you beyond measure. The cross is not only a place of suffering. It is a place of cleansing, a place of healing, a place of new beginnings. So remain there for one more quiet moment. Look again at Jesus, and hear Him say—not with accusation, but with tenderness: “I gave My life so you could live.” Let your heart answer Him now—in gratitude, in wonder, in love. Amen.
