DAILY BREAD — God’s Greatest Gift

ADVICE:
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.”
— Acts 3:22

PROMISE:
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
— Galatians 4:4–5

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.

Dear God,
On this Christmas Day, we pause to reflect on the true reason for this joyful season: the birth of Jesus. As we give and receive gifts to show our love for one another—just as the wise men brought gifts to Jesus—help us not to focus on what we might receive, but on what we can give to You. Prepare our hearts so we may truly celebrate Jesus’ birthday and the peace and joy He came to bring.

We remember that holy night long ago when a bright star shone in the sky and angels appeared to shepherds, announcing good news meant for all people. That message is for us today as well: “Do not be afraid. Today in Bethlehem a Savior has been born. He is the Messiah, the Son of God.”

As we sing Christmas carols, may we join the song of the angels and of believers throughout the ages, praising You for the gift of Your Son. Jesus is the greatest gift You have ever given us. Today, we simply thank You for Your deep love, Your faithful care, and Your promise never to leave us.
