DAILY BREAD — Repentance that Turns and Pursues Peace ADVICE: Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:14 PROMISE: Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts… He will have mercy… He will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:7 PRAYER: Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Psalm 19:13 Dear Heavenly Father,
You have already brought the matter into the light, and that itself is grace. Keep me from a repentance that ends in regret alone. Let it become a true turning—away from passive complicity and toward active obedience. Where I failed to act, train my will to be ready next time. Guard me from the subtle sin of omission, which cloaks itself in caution but resists love. Order my steps so that doing good is not occasional, but a pursued path. Lord Jesus Christ, You did not stand at a distance from injustice, but entered into the brokenness of the world to bear it and overcome it. Conform my life to Yours. Where I am tempted to remain silent for the sake of comfort or approval, give me courage shaped by humility—not self-righteous speech, but faithful witness. Let my actions be governed not by guilt alone, but by love that seeks the good of my neighbor. Holy Spirit, search out the deeper roots beneath this moment. Where fear of man, hesitation, or self-preservation restrained me, bring them into the light and subdue them. Form in me a readiness that is both wise and bold—able to discern when to speak, when to act, and how to pursue peace without compromising truth. Keep sin from ruling, not only in what I do, but in what I fail to do. “Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (James 4:17) At the same time, hold fast to the promise that repentance does not leave you under condemnation, but leads you into restored fellowship and renewed obedience: “If we walk in the light, as He is in the light… the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7) Amen.
