DAILY BREAD — Drawing Near Through the Great High Priest ADVICE: Since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart. Hebrews 10:21–22 PROMISE: All those the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away. John 6:37 PRAYER: But You, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. Psalm 22:19 Dear Heavenly Father,
Because access has been opened by Your Son, bring me near without hesitation and without disguise. Let sincerity mark my approach—no pretense, no guardedness, no attempt to secure what Christ has already obtained. Teach me to come on the ground of His priesthood alone, trusting that the way into Your presence stands open by His blood. Lord Jesus Christ, You are the great High Priest who both invites and receives. Guard me from measuring my welcome by my worthiness; fix it instead in Your promise. When I feel unfit to come, draw me precisely then, for Your grace is not granted to the strong but to those who come. Keep me near to You, where mercy is not occasional but continual, and where every need finds its answer in Your sufficiency. Holy Spirit, make nearness to God a lived reality, not an abstract truth. When I cry, “Do not be far from me,” answer by strengthening faith to lay hold of what is already given. Be my help in weakness, my steadiness in distress, and my inward assurance that I stand before God not alone, but in Christ. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16) Amen.
