PYROS (Presbyterian Youth Reaching Out on Sundays)
The youth (grades 7-12) are a vibrant group of young adults. In April 2010, the name of the youth group was changed to PYROS (Presbyterian Youth Reaching Out on Sundays). Thanks to Glen Harrison for designing the new logo! The hope is that this new name and logo will become synonymous with the work that the youth of Calvin are involved with at the church.
PYROS typically meets at the church twice a month on Sunday evenings for 2-3 hours, depending on the planned event. Regular meetings usually include physical games like dodge ball & floor hockey, food, singing and discussion. Through the use of videos and discussion, the youth explore their faith and what role it plays in shaping who they are, and how they can use it to make a positive contribution to their church, community and the world. Special youth events include a yearly weekend retreat, Kitchener Rangers games, bowling, tobogganing, 30 hour famine/sleepover, barbeque/pool party and special event planning for the younger children within the church congregation (i.e. movie nights & a Halloween party). PYROS meets during the calendar school year from September to June and would love to welcome new members to share in our fun.
The good news
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
