I wanted to introduce myself officially online to you. My name is Abbey Ruggi, and I am the new Program Coordinator fro Calvin Church. I'm very excited to be taking on this role, and hope to get to know you all better as we go on in the church year.
To get things started, I wanted to let you know about the Halloween party that Calvin Church will be having this year on Saturday, October 31st from 3-5 pm. The event will be held at the church, and pizza will be provided near the end of the afternoon (in order to make sure your ghosts & ghouls are fed before trick-or-treating). During the party, there will be small activities run in Calvin Hall (from tag, to colouring) as well as running the film Hotel Transylvania. In addition, the PYROS Youth Group will be running a Haunted House through the Sunday School Classroom Hall. Tours through the Haunted House will be lead by a Youth and each group will be divided in age groups (in order to ensure the spookiness fits the age). Attached is the poster for the party.
If you would like to join us, feel free to e-mail back! Just included your name, your children's name, age, and how many slices of pepperoni or cheese pizza they would like. Attached is the poster for the party.
As noted, the PYROS Youth Group will be running the activities during the Halloween party. With that in mind, the PYROS will be meeting Sunday, October 25th at 11:30 a.m., in order to reconnect as a group, and finalize how they would like to partake in the party.
I've created a new registration form for the youth group which can be found at the following link: http://goo.gl/forms/SXSrqZO4K3 (or you can access it from Calvin's website under the Youth Group tab).
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
Enjoy your week! God Bless,
After over four years of civil war in Syria, almost half of the country’s population is in crisis. With over four million refugees—half of whom are children—there is desperate need
for urgent humanitarian assistance, as well as longer-term solutions such as sponsorship. As Christians, we are called to be peacemakers. We pray, seek and work for peace.
Since the outset of the crisis, PWS&D has been responding through our partners at the ACT Alliance and Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Together, we are providing basic food items, hygiene kits, shelter, clothing and essential non-food items. Partner staff on the ground are providing psychosocial, medical and educational support for children and youth living in refugee camps.
On September 12, 2015, the Government of Canada announced the establishment of the Syria Emergency Relief Fund. For all eligible donations made until December 31, 2015, the Government of Canada will contribute a matching amount towards Canada’s “Syria Emergency Relief Fund.” You can make a donation through your church offering, by mailing a cheque to the PWS&D office, calling us at 1-800-619-7301 ext. 291, or online by clicking here. Please mark your donation “Syria Relief.”
