Missions and Outreach

Calvin has very active and dedicated mission and outreach programs, both locally and internationally.  Through various committees within our church, we support the following groups and projects:

• Alzheimer Society of Kitchener-Waterloo (Coffee Break fundraiser)
• Anselma House (Financial support to provide safe shelter for abused women and children)
• Canada Foodgrains Bank (Raising funds in partnership with other churches)
• Growing Healthy Two-gether – (Prenatal/postnatal program facilitated by the Public Health Unit. As of February 2009, this program moved to the Early Years Centre at 154 Gatewood Road in Kitchener at the corner of Queen's Blvd. and Westmount Road. For more information, call (519) 883-2267.)
• Habitat for Humanity (Volunteers to assist building projects)
• House of Friendship (Potato Blitz and general support)
• Izzy Dolls (sent to a mission field or for soldiers to give out to children – link for pattern)
• Leprosy Mission (used postage stamps are collected)
• Mission fields (used eyeglasses are collected)
• Nutrition for Learning (Calvin Church hosts this breakfast program 4 days per week, October-May)
• Pneumonia Prevention Vests (sent to the Bhil field in India in March and October – link for pattern)
• Presbyterian World Service & Development (Refugee sponsorships and disaster relief)
• The Working Centre (Refugee support centre)

Senior and Nursing Home Services

Under the umbrella of the Pastoral Care Committee, Worship teams, made up of volunteers from the congregation, go to five area Senior and Nursing Homes on a regular basis to provide either a Worship Service or a Bible Study for the residents. This is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to spend a little time helping and visiting the seniors of our community.

Bible Studies are conducted at Lanark Place bi-weekly on a Monday @ 10:00 a.m. Worship Services are conducted at:

• Conestoga Lodge monthly on a Wednesday @ 10:30 a.m.
• The Westmount every six weeks on a Thursday @ 11:00 a.m.
• Winston Park bi-monthly on a Wednesday @ 2:30 p.m.
• Millwood Manor monthly on a Tuesday @ 2:00 p.m.
